Tuesday, December 3, is Giving Tuesday, when people around the globe rally to do good for their community or give back to a cause they believe in.

Are you ready to give?

We are inviting you to take part in our campaign:

Be part of our living history.

Let’s keep it alive!

History, you say? Yes, because the events of the past help us understand who we are today and shape our path forward.

Whether you live in Bayfield or spend your summer here, you know Bayfield is a treasure trove of stories that give our beloved village its historic charm and character, making it a special place to live, play and explore.

For almost five decades, the Bayfield Historical Society has been a cultural anchor in our community, keeping our history top of mind. Of the several historical societies in Huron County, did you know that we are the only one with a dedicated site for preserving and displaying archival records? Our Archives & Heritage Centre maintains hundreds of irreplaceable documents, photographs, prints, textiles and other objects

We also provide educational programs and historical research, host events and publish books in collaboration with local historians and other experts. Not only that, we offer opportunities for students to work in our archives during the summer to gain valuable experience in the field of history and archival research.

Did you know we are also a tourist centre? Visitors from far and wide drop in to learn more about Bayfield and ask for tips about their stay.

Our work is made possible thanks to the dedication and enthusiasm of our members, donors, volunteers and community. So, in the spirit of Giving Tuesday, join us in keeping our living history alive by taking one (or all) of these actions. Whichever you choose, you will be contributing to the strength and pride of our community — and that is a good thing!

Take action now!
